Limited liability companies (Swedish AB), branches and other corporate forms must undergo the audit if they meet at least two of the following criteria for each of the two latest financial years:

• more than 3 employees (as an average)
• a balance sheet total of more than 1.5 million kronor
• a net turnover of more than 3 million kronor

Swedish audit firms usually request, at the end of the year, an electronic file comprising all the bookkeeping for the financial year. The electronic file is called SIE 4-file and can be exported from a Swedish compliant bookkeeping software.
